Kalia Road repair project
Project Overview: Kalia Road is a vital artery in Waikiki, serving residents, businesses, and thousands of visitors daily. To address wear and tear and improve safety for all users, U.S. Army Garrison Hawaii and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Honolulu District, are partnering on a project to improve safety and accessibility along Kalia Road by repaving the roadway and repairing damaged sidewalks and walkways. Work will occur on weekdays between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. There will be no work on weekends or weekdays.

ʻĀina Haina storm drainage project
The City and County of Honolulu’s Department of Design and Construction (DDC) will begin a storm drainage improvement project in the vicinity of Ahuwale Street in ʻĀina Haina starting May 5, 2025. The project is expected to take approximately 16 months to complete. Work will be conducted on Monday through Friday (excluding holidays), from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Honolulu Complete Streets Projects
The City and County of Honolulu has several Complete Streets projects in Waikīkī to improve safety, public health, accessibility, and comfort for all. The following projects are underway: Ala Wai Boulevard Complete Streets, Kūhiō Avenue Transit-Priority Lanes, Ala Pono (Ala Wai Bridge), and Kalākaua Avenue Crossing Improvements.

2nd Phase of Kūhiō Avenue Transit-Priority Lane
The City completed the first phase of the new transit-priority lanes in November 2024. Phase 2 covers the eastbound curbside lane of Kūhiō Avenue, from Kānekapōlei Street to Kapahulu Avenue, and will use red pavement markings and signage to give priority to both City and private buses, as well as large trucks and bicycles transiting the corridor. Construction work will begin the week of May 5, 2025 and last approximately four weeks, weather permitting. Working hours will be Monday to Friday from 8:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
