HONOLULU CITY COUNCIL TO HOST INFORMATIONAL BRIEFING ON HFD AVIATION PROGRAM AND RECENT WILDFIRES (2023)

NOV. 13 - HONOLULU, HAWAIʻI - The Honolulu City Council Committee on Public Safety is holding an informational briefing on the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) Aviation Program and information on the recent wildfires on O‘ahu on Wednesday November 15, 2023 at 9:00 a.m.

Public Safety Chair Okimoto will be holding an informational briefing with members of the Honolulu Fire Department to discuss the Department’s ongoing Aviation Program as well as an update on the recent wildfires on O‘ahu. “With increased wildfires across the islands, this is top of mind for our community. My goal here is to find any budget or equipment shortfalls in the Department’s ability to quickly and safely put out wildfires so that I may prepare for the City’s upcoming FY25 budget requests. As a community, it is important for us to understand the mechanisms Honolulu Fire Department has in place to protect us and assess the resources needed to protect our residents and ʻĀina from mauka to makai. I would like to thank HFD for their rapid and thorough response to our wildfires, including the most recent one in Mililani Mauka this past week.”

Okimoto represents City Council District 8, which includes Portions of ‘Aiea, Waimalu, Newtown, Pearl City, Seaview, Crestview, Waipi‘o Gentry, Koa Ridge, Mililani Town, and Mililani Mauka.
